To find your answers to these questions please read the information below. Also refer to the Lifting Chain chart for help that can be found at the bottom of this page.

How many Lifting Chain Legs do I need?

Before choosing how many Legs you require for your Lifting Chain you need to consider the following with regards to the object you are lifting; weight, size and shape.

Weight will determine what chain thickness you will need and if you will need extra Chain Legs for a safe lift.
Size and Shape can determine whether more chains will be needed to help stabilise a safe lift whilst the object is in the lifting process.

What chain thickness will I need for the Legs of my Lifting Chain?

This will be determined by the weight of the object you are lifting and also if you have opted for more than one Chain Leg (see chart below).

What Hook should I choose for my Lifting Chain?

We offer two types of hook with our Lifting Chains; Clevis Sling Hook with Clip and Clevis Safety Hook with Self Locking.
Clevis Hook with Clip is our standard hook option.
Clevis Hook with Self Locking is as our standard Clevis Hook but also incorporates a locking mechanism that will automatically lock itself in place for added safety.
Do I need a Shortening Clutch for my Lifting Chain?
Shortening Clutches are optional with our Lifting Chains.
The purpose of a Shortening Clutch is to allow you to adjust the length of your chain to the desired length required for any given lift.
The advantage of having a Shortening Clutch with your Lifting Chain kit is that it will allow you to use the same kit for multiple types of lifts.
What Length do I need my Chain Legs to be with my Lifting Chain?
The length of the Chain Legs will be determined by the shape/size of the object that you want to lift and the type of machine you are using for the lift.
Example: The chain length must be long enough to be attached to the machine being used for the lift and also reach the point/s on the object where you intend to attach the chain for the lift.
